Innovative Product Award


The Innovative Product Award (formerly known as TIPTA) was established in 1994 by the Toronto Construction Association. The Award is open to any supplier who can demonstrate the development, and/or the use of innovative technologies in their respective industries. This is a great opportunity to showcase your products/services at The Buildings Show, comprised of Construct Canada / PM Expo / HomeBuilder & Renovator Expo / STONEX Canada / World of Concrete Toronto Pavilion!

  • The proposed technology must not have been the subject of an application for this award before
  • The applicant must be the current owner of the related intellectual property (IP) or technology, or the initiator of any related IP application, and be capable of showing evidence of no patent infringement
  • Research and development of the technology must have started no more than 3 years before the start of The Buildings Show 2016 Significant modifications of an existing technology to accommodate new applications are eligible
  • Any dispute will be subject to decisions of the judges
  • The Innovative Product Award including a $5,000 cheque
  • A press release announcing the first place winner will be issued to local media
  • A Toronto Construction Association (TCA) membership valid for one year which includes:
    • A full page advertisement and classified listing in our annual publication of the Construction Book
    • An electronic listing in the TCA’s online directory
    • A press release announcing the winner in our monthly e-connect newsletter
    • Tickets to the Toronto Construction Association’s Christmas Luncheon
      (A table will be reserved for the annual Innovative Product Award winner at the aforesaid luncheon. Four seats will go to the first prize winner and two seats each for the second and third place winners. )
  • The development and/or the application of a new and unique technology (associated with any activity within the construction and property management industries)


  • A new and unique application or adaptation of an existing technology (associated with any activity within the construction and property management industries)
